A Message From the President

Welcome to Molchan Marine Sciences Website. 2007 is proving to be another exciting year for the company. In January2007 Molchan Marine Sciences (MMS) participated in Marine Log’s Maritime and Port Security Conference in Washington DC speaking on International Trends in Underwater Port Security(see pdf file for link ) and we published an article on the Howler Exercise in H2O Ops Magazine Dec-Jan 07 issue. (see pdf file for link) This article highlighted the work that MMS is doing with Technology Systems Inc. and Naval Special Clearance Team One, in the application of Augmented Reality in Mine Countermeasures operations. We are also expanding into the offshore energy security field as we have formed an informal partnership with Blue Water Defence and Security Ltd., a Caribbean/ UK based company specializing in offshore energy security. Molchan Marine Sciences continues to provide innovative work for a number of pioneering projects with clients dedicated to improving the Maritime Safety and Security posture worldwide. We have projects with:

• Blue Water Defence and Security LTD.: providing consulting in Maritime Security Technology, Perimeter Security and Threat Deterrents for Offshore Energy and Onshore Maritime Asset Installations.
• Technology Systems Incorporated (TSI): implementing, testing and evaluating Augmented Reality Virtual Common Operational Picture (ARVCOP) navigation and communication system with Naval Special Clearance Team One littoral operations.
• SeaAway: supporting Maritime Security, and Concept of Operations of Sea Sentinel, Sea Handler and Advanced Deep Water Buoy System.
• Office of the Secretary of Defense and TSI: supporting the Planning and Execution Augmented Reality (PEAR) System merging AR with the Modular Mission Planning Toolkit for multiple unmanned vehicles (UUV, USV, UAV).
• Supervisor of Diving and Phoenix International: improving the awareness, guidance documents, and tactics related to Contaminated Water Diving
• Office of Naval Research and Technology Systems Incorporated: implementing, testing, and evaluating ARVCOP in Assault Lane Craft as well as consulting in port and harbor security applications in a Visual Integrated Bridge System project.
• Dynamic Alternatives UK Ltd.: creating collaborations in Maritime Security Training for Post Military Personnel worldwide.
• Tactical Defense Concepts: conducting Port and Ship Security Officer Training and Assessments and Building a Database of Maritime and Facility Security Incidents for multiple maritime users.

Marianne Molchan is on the steering committee of Ocean Tech Expo (OTE) 2007 a North American Ocean Technology Showcase, and will chair the Harbor and Port Security Track taking place in Providence RI in September 2007.
